The grade 3's have been learning about mass and the grade 4's have been learning about measuring area in square centimetres and metres.

We are learning about the European exploration of North America, why they came and what affect they had on the First Nations people.

We have been discussing how the increase or decrease of a population in a habitat can affect other populations.

The grade 3's & 4's are learning about Manitoba. We discussed adaptations and how animals adapt to their environment. We began researching polar bears last week and will be presenting what we've learned this coming week. We have been discussing our ideas about what Heaven is like, and are creating art to show these ideas.

The grade 3’s & 4’s are learning about how erosion takes place. They built a model out of clay this week and experimented with erosion by adding water. The grade 3’s have been adding and subtracting 3 digit numbers and the grade 4’s are learning how to tell time by the minute on an analogue clock.


This year the grade 3 & 4 class will be exchanging homemade gifts. Each child will make a gift, and on December 22 students will pick a name out of a box to see who they are going to give their gift to.


Please be at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church at 6:00 next Wednesday evening for the Christmas Concert. It takes time to tune the violins and get organized. Students are asked to dress nicely.


On Tuesday, December 20th, the grade 3’s & 4’s will be playing at 1:30 at the Forks.


Please remember to bring the Hamper items by December 19th. Thank you again for your generous contributions.

The grade 3's & 4's are learning about how igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks are formed. They have made advent calendars with the focus on being kind to someone in the class each day. Students are also learning about mapping lakes and rivers in Manitoba.

Hampers will be assembled December 16-20th in the gym. If you would like to volunteer to help put hampers together please see the office.
Separate classroom hampers will be put together by each classroom in the school. Every family will be asked to bring something. Please see the poster board outside the classroom. Notes will be sent home this week with more information.
Reminder: Please return the report card envelope as soon as possible.

Thank you to all of the families for bringing in items for our Operation Christmas Child shoebox. The shoeboxes are being picked up tomorrow to be shipped overseas.

Student led conferences are Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Please sign up outside of the office. Your children are preparing their portfolios and are eager to show you what they have been doing this term.

Please return the report card envelope this week.

On Friday, November 25th, the class will be going to Christ Kindle Market to perform. Please ensure your child is wearing their BSLS shirt and they bring their violin to school. We will be at the Market from 1:30-3:00.

The grade 3's & 4's have begun a new unit in Science. We are studying Rocks, Minerals & Erosion. The class has been looking at parts of speech in Language Arts, and enjoyed writing about Halloween last week. The grade 3's are looking at fact families in addition and subtraction and the grade 4's are beginning multiplication.
Report cards will be sent home next Friday so please keep an eye open for them in your child's backpack.

In Science class we have been learning about different types of energy. We are looking specifically at light and sound. The students are currently working in groups researching one of the following topics: The rainbow, Thomas Edison, or Light and the Human Eye.
In Social Studies we have been learning about the world map and globe. Specifically, cardinal directions, and latitude and longitude. We are labelling the map of Canada and looking at the physical features of the various regions of Canada.
Our class will be having a Pumpkin Party in the afternoon on Monday. Please have your child bring their costume to school and please do not choose a violent costume. Notes have gone home to those families who are asked to bring a treat for our party.
On November 1 we will be going to MTYP. Thank you to all of the volunteers! Please be here by 9:20.
